Survey Re-Opened! Help Shape AMCHP’s Fiscal Sustainability Resource

Graphic promoting AMCHP's MCH Innovations Committee's Fiscal Sustainability Resource, deadline extended. Complete the survey by November 26: bit.ly/AMCHP-FSRS

AMCHP’s MCH Innovations Committee is reopening our needs assessment survey that will guide the development of a Fiscal Sustainability Resource for organizations working in maternal child health, and invite you to take a few minutes to fill out the survey anonymously.

Purpose of the resource:

  • Provide practical information to support strategic planning and sustainability.
  • Develop key strategies for balancing a stable portfolio of funding.
  • Highlight effective and promising strategies that organizations can implement.

The ultimate goal is to share effective fiscal planning and sustainability practices that maternal and child health (MCH) leaders, program administrators, and organizations can apply to strengthen their long-term impact.

Your input will help ensure this resource is grounded in the real challenges and opportunities faced by organizations like yours. The survey will take approximately 7-10 minutes to complete, and all responses will remain confidential.

Survey Link

The new closing date for the survey is November 26, and we hope to gather many responses to make sure the resource reflects the realities of the MCH field as accurately as we can. Together, we can create a resource that empowers organizations to achieve sustainable growth and improve outcomes for mothers, children, and families.

New Blog Post! Not Alone in Their Journey: Caregivers of Children with Sickle Cell Disease

Graphic promoting new AMCHP blog post - Not Alone in Their Journey: Caregivers of Children with Sickle Cell Disease. Read more: bit.ly/SCD-BP

In recognition of National Family Caregivers Month, former AMCHP intern Z’Leah Liburd spoke with three caregivers who shared what life is truly like raising and supporting children with sickle cell disease (SCD). Dr. Tobi Adeyeye Amosun, Hermionne Johnson, and Tamara James offered thoughtful reflections on the daily realities of caregiving, from managing unpredictable symptoms to working with schools and navigating health systems.

Their stories highlight both the challenges and the deep sense of purpose that come with caring for a child with SCD. Together, they remind us that while the journey may be difficult, no caregiver has to walk it alone.

Policy Alert: Congress Passes Legislation Ending the Longest Government Shutdown in U.S. History

Graphic promoting AMCHP Policy Alert: bit.ly/PA-111325

On November 12, Congress passed, and President Trump signed, a legislative package to fully reopen the federal government, ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. The legislation includes a “minibus” of three full-year Fiscal Year (2026) appropriation bills that funds the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, and Congress through Sept. 30, 2026. It also maintains funding for all other federal agencies and programs at FY 2024 levels (per the FY 2025 continuing resolution) through Jan. 30, 2026.

While this legislative package brings relief following weeks of uncertainty, it does not provide a resolution on key FY 2026 funding decisions or the threat of long-term funding cuts that could have sweeping consequences for maternal and child health populations, programs, and providers.
