AMCHP is now accepting Tool-specific submissions to the MCH Innovations Database on a rolling basis!
Select the “How Do I Submit a Tool?” tab below to learn more.
AMCHP is excited to be piloting our new Tool submission category for our MCH Innovations Database! Over the course of previous biannual reviews, the Innovation Hub has received feedback that the current Practice and Policy submission categories do not appropriately encompass all types and formats of innovations that support positive outcomes for MCH populations. The goal of spotlighting tools in the MCH Innovations Database is to share examples of tools or other aids that are being used to eliminate obstacles to and promote community wellness among MCH populations. Through including tools in the MCH Innovations Database, AMCHP hopes to expand the use of the database and support MCH professionals in addressing a greater range of MCH challenges.
Explore the sections below to learn more about submitting a tool to the MCH Innovations Database, and to access the Tool-specific submission form.
What Does AMCHP Consider a “Tool”?
AMCHP considers a tool to be defined as “an aid in accomplishing a task.” Tools may include curricula, frameworks, guides, assessments, trainings, etc. If you are unsure of whether your tool would qualify or be appropriate for the Tool Track, please email evidence@amchp.org, and we will be happy to support you in selecting the best submission track for your work
What are the Benefits of Submitting?
There are many benefits to being featured in the MCH Innovations Database, both for your practice and the MCH field as a whole. Submitting to and being featured in the database allows you to:
- Share successes with peers around the country who may want to replicate your work
- Receive national recognition for your practice
- Contribute to building the MCH evidence base
- Increase your practice’s credibility
- Receive feedback and suggestions from the MCH experts who will be reviewing your work
- Become eligible for opportunities to have your work replicated by others (check out our Replication Projects page to learn more)
- Access to all components of AMCHP’s Innovation Hub Learning Community (IHLC)
AMCHP’s IHLC supports all practices, policies, and tools in the MCH Innovations Database to strengthen the impact of their work by integrating programmatic, evaluation, and implementation best practices. The IHLC offers support through customized one-on-one coaching based on their unique needs and interest areas; quarterly webinars on topics related to strengthening implementation and evaluation activities; and peer sharing groups to dig deeper into experiences and challenges. Join us for an upcoming IHLC webinars by visiting the Upcoming Events page and reach out to us at evidence@amchp.org to learn more about submitting your work to Innovation Hub to become a part of the IHLC.
How are Tools Evaluated?
During our Tool designation pilot period, all Tool submissions will be reviewed by a team of 3 AMCHP staff, who will review the information provided on the submission form and decide whether the tool is appropriate for the MCH Innovations Database. As a part of the review process, reviewers provide applicants with direct feedback on each tool’s strengths and areas for growth and improvement.
How Do I Submit a Tool?
Tool submissions to the MCH Innovations Database are accepted on a rolling basis and streamlined into the next review period depending on the timing of submission. This process serves AMCHP’s effort to reach a wider set of organizations, and to encourage more community-based organizations and smaller organizations to submit. We understand that organizations have busy, fluid schedules, and they may not have had the time or bandwidth to submit an application with the prior application timeline. We are hoping that this new system provides greater flexibility and encourages any prospective applicants to apply on their most convenient timeline.
To submit a tool, email a completed Tool-specific submission form to evidence@amchp.org with the subject line “MCH Innovations Database—Tool Submission”. Please contact evidence@amchp.org with any questions or concerns, and we are happy to assist.

Submission FAQs
How long does it take to complete a submission?
We have heard from our pilot testers that submission completion took between 1-3 hours, depending on the level of detail and information they wanted to provide.
What are the chances of my tool being accepted?
If your work appears to be having a positive impact on MCH populations and is a tool or aid that could be used across multiple settings or MCH populations, then it is likely a good fit for our database. The vast majority of submissions are accepted to the database.
What happens after my tool is accepted?
After your tool is accepted, there are two more steps to be featured in the database:
- Complete the Database Entry Survey that will be emailed to you by AMCHP staff. This will be your opportunity to input the information that you want displayed about your tool on your landing page in our database.
- Complete the Tool Summary and Utilization Guidance Handout that will be featured in our database. AMCHP staff will pre-populate the handout with information from your submission form, and you will be asked to add any additional implementation information for your tool that you feel would be helpful for database users.
