Background & Bio
Ruth recently earned her B.S. in Public Health Science from the University of Maryland. After graduation, she was selected for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s competitive, two-year Public Health Associate Program (PHAP).

Ruth has a background in healthcare having worked as a certified nursing assistant and an optical technician. She has also gained valuable experience volunteering at a hospital overseas and shadowing social workers. Through these experiences, Ruth developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by underserved communities. This work fueled her passion for health equity, with a particular focus on ensuring access to resources and advocating for marginalized populations.

Current Work
Ruth is supporting family engagement and leadership efforts in areas such as exploring and expanding the tools and resources available to measure the impact of family engagement and partnership, supporting referrals to Innovation Hub, and generally enhancing AMCHP’s family engagement capacity.
