Background & Bio
Mallory Cyr is the Program Manager of Children & Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) at AMCHP. Mallory earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Maternal & Child Health from Boston University and a Bachelor in Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Maine at Farmington.
Mallory brings an extensive background of 14+ years of experience and a strong understanding of the CYSHCN population, starting out in MCH through her experience working with the Maine Title V CYSHCN program early in her career. Mallory has consistently attended the AMCHP conference and served on the former AMCHP Family and Youth Leadership Committee (now the Family LEAD Committee). She brings a demonstrated understanding of national policy initiatives for CYSHCN, through her experience as the Program Manager of the Got Transition? National Health Care Transition Center. When Mallory moved to Denver, CO, she worked for the Colorado Title V CYSHCN program and supported the planning and facilitation of stakeholder meetings with local public health agencies. Mallory then served as a policy specialist and contract manager for Colorado’s Medicaid program, gaining a unique understanding of the systems and benefits for both children and adults who fall into Medicaid’s eligible population, and providing oversight on a statewide implementation of Colorado’s Non-Emergency Medical Transportation benefit. Most recently, Mallory worked with Family Voices National as the Project & Communications Coordinator, managing, and elevating their social media presence and collaborating with national partners.
Like AMCHP, Family Voices received funds through the HRSA CARES Act COVID-19 pandemic response to create materials to increase access to and education on telehealth for families of CYSHCN. Mallory served as the lead on the youth facing component of the telehealth project and provided guidance to the curriculum created for family organizations and supported with dissemination and communications. Mallory is incredibly skilled in program development and management, creative problem solving and innovation, public speaking, training, technical assistance, and facilitation (including numerous speaking engagements at state and national conferences) and is a huge asset to the CYSHCN portfolio at AMCHP!
Mallory is incredibly passionate about improving opportunities for meaningful youth engagement, leveraging social media for stakeholder engagement, and applying personal lessons learned to her work from her lived experience navigating systems for CYSHCN in multiple states.
Mallory received the 2021 Boston University School of Public Health Maternal Child Health Alumnae Award for Outstanding Service to Individuals and Families, for designing a curriculum for the School of Public Health, focused on Disability Justice. Most recently, she was named one of the 40 Under 40 in Public Health for 2023 by the DeBeaumont Foundation.
