Background & Bio
Eden Desta is a Digital Communications Intern at AMCHP. She is a Rice University alumna and is now pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) in Health Education and Health Communication at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has a passion for community engagement and working towards health equity by contributing to the improvement of health outcomes of disadvantaged populations. Her rich Ethiopian background and meaningful work and leadership experiences inspire her to live a life of passion and purpose.
As a previous Health Advocate at Legacy Community Health, she served to assess patients’ social needs and connect them to community resources that will help them sustain a healthy lifestyle specific to their needs. In addition, Eden had the privilege of continuing to serve at the community level as the president of the Rice African Student Association. Alongside a team of leaders, she collaborated to curate spaces where members were empowered to voice their initiatives, needs, and concerns and turn those conversations into action.
My Current Work
Eden supports the Communications team by working on creative concepts, content, and marketing strategies to promote the initiatives of the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs.
