Background & Bio

Nancy Scotto Rosato, PhD, serves as the Assistant Commissioner for the Division of Family Health Services at the New Jersey Department of Health leading the mission of the Division to enhance the health, safety and well-being of families and communities in New Jersey. She oversees the policies and programming related to maternal and child health through such programs as Early Intervention Services (EIS), Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program, the education component of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistant Program (SNAP-ed), the Maternal and Child Health Services (MCHS), and Special Child Health Services (SCHS). Dr. Scotto Rosato has served in governmental public health since 2008, first with working with children with special health care needs through the Autism Registry and Birth Defects Registry, and later in maternal and child health services and WIC. Dr. Scotto Rosato is a researcher, administrator, and policy analyst with over 20 years of experience in the field of maternal and child health care and service delivery. Dr. Scotto-Rosato received her PhD in Social Work from Rutgers University and a Masters in Psychology from New York University. Dr. Scotto Rosato continues to lead the development of programs that improve the lives of New Jersey residents, particularly those individuals who are underserved and marginalized by an inequitable system. Her focus on health equity is particularly evident with the work she does as the Title V Director in NJ and hopes to continue this work in NJ and regionally.
