Former AMCHP Board President Named as New MCHB Associate Administrator

Dr. Michael D. Warren, M.D., former president of the board of the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs, will become the associate administrator of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) on Oct. 15.

“Dr. Warren is a board-certified pediatrician with an extensive background in public health and a proven record of implementing evidence-based strategies that advance the health and wellbeing of mothers, children, and families,” HRSA said in its announcement.

Dr. Warren serves as deputy commissioner for population health at the Tennessee Department of Health, where his oversight includes Tennessee’s Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant Program. He is an American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) fellow and member of the AAP Committee on State Government Affairs. He was appointed to the U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Infant Mortality.
