Simplified and Easy to Navigate: New Website for Standards for Systems of Care for Children with Special Health Care Needs
October 25, 2017

As part of its mission to develop comprehensive, quality systems of care for children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and their families, the Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP), in partnership with the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP), has created an interactive website for the National Standards for Systems of Care for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs, Version 2.0. The National Standards were created with long-standing support from the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health and the website was developed with support from HRSA AIM. This new tool simplifies navigation of the Standards, making them easily accessible to all stakeholders including Title V CYSHCN programs, families, state health leaders, providers, state Medicaid and CHIP agencies, and private insurers.

The National Standards set the core components for the structure and process of effective systems of care for the approximately 15 percent of U.S. children up to age 18 who have a chronic and/or complex health care need. Creating a comprehensive, quality system of care for these children has been one of the most challenging areas for state health leaders and other stakeholders, such as state Title V CYSHCN programs, health plans, private insurers, state Medicaid and CHIP agencies, pediatricians and family physicians, and families.

Please view AMCHP’s informational video on the Standards website and feel free to share the video with your partners. To expand the reach of the new website, we also encourage you to share the video on your social media channels. We’ve provided sample text below to encourage you to share through your newsletters, website announcements, and/or social media.
