Advocacy Toolkit
When maternal and child health programs speak with unified messages, we are more likely to be heard. As a consumer, you know that you are more likely to act on a message if it is presented clearly, frequently and from multiple sources. Opinion leaders, not surprisingly, act the same way. AMCHP recently interviewed a group of opinion leaders and found that they would like to:
- Learn more about MCH programs and the families they serve;
- Have reliable, readable information sent to them regularly; and
- Find information on easy to navigate Web sites.
To help our members reach out to opinion leaders with clarity, confidence and cohesion, we’ve put together the following communications materials:
- Sample Core Messages. These national messages give you an idea of how to localize your own version.
- How to Reach Opinion Leaders with Your Message. Here are the basics on whom to call and how – and what to do if you are restricted from meeting with elected officials. We've also included the nuts and bolts of how to organize and present your information so that it will be read and retained.
- MCH Success Stories - Coming Soon! If you have a success story to share, let us know via email or call our office at (202) 775-0436.
- Training and Education. Connecting you with upcoming conference calls, meetings, and new reports on the legislative issues that matter for MCH.
Although the content is broken into sections, it is all interrelated. The materials are brief and should contain a bit of helpful information for everyone, regardless of experience. Please, read on.
